With its emphasis on breath, core conditioning and body awareness, STOTT PILATESTM exercises are a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen, and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints.  Performed on a mat or specialized equipment, STOTT PILATESTM is the perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab, and life.  Doing STOTT PILATESTM exercises on a regular basis will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease.  No wonder it’s becoming widely known as “the ultimate resource for mind-body fitness.”

Note: Please consult with your doctor before beginning this or any other exercise program, especially if you have not been physically active in the past year or if you have a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, acute joint pain or injury, or severe osteoporosis.  Not all exercises are suitable for everyone, and any exercise program may result in injury.

Carol Boyer Peterson is certified STOTT PILATESTM instructor.  Since 1999, she has completed intensive professional training in both the mat and Reformer methods, as well as advanced training in functional anatomy and in exercise modifications for injuries and special populations.  From 1999-2002, she was a STOTT PILATESTM instructor in St. Paul at the SweatShop Health Club, one of 18 licensed STOTTTM Certification Centers worldwide.  Since moving to Duluth two years ago, Carol has taught a Pilates workshop for health and fitness professionals and a six-week summer course for seniors – both through Rec Sports at UMD.  She holds three degrees from the University of Minnesota, including a PhD in higher education.
