Peterson

Scholarship

Program

The Legacy and Endowment Fund’s Peterson Scholarship Program provides scholarships of $1,500 per year for up to four years to graduating high school students of academic promise who have experienced some challenge in their lives that has kept them from performing at their scholastic potentials.  This challenge might be a family, health, or personal choice issue that prevents them from qualifying for other local, merit-based scholarships.

Counselors and administrators at Central, Denfeld, and East High Schools identify eligible students.  Teams of Legacy and Endowment Fund Committee members then interview students at each high school and select scholarship recipients.  If scholars make regular progress toward a postsecondary degree or certification, the scholarship is renewable for three additional years.   In 2008, the Fund awarded nine new scholarships and will renew funding for eighteen Peterson Scholars.

If you believe you may qualify for the Peterson Scholarship, or if you would like more information, please contact your counselor at Central, Denfeld, or East High School.
