From the Pastor “He has
risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. The world can be a frightening place sometimes. The pace of change, the challenges of finances and health care….yikes! It’s enough to make one want to hide out and hope for the best! It’s tempting to think of the church as a place to huddle and hide from the whirlwind. Then we hit the season of Pentecost reminding us that we are authorized agents called to GO OUT and share the good news of Helper, sent into our midst, to enable us to speak and act in God’s name! Barbara Brown Taylor writes, “We are not to be consumers after all, but providers of God’s love.” At the end of every service is the benediction where we say the words of blessing and sending, “Go in peace, love and serve the Lord…”, “Go forth in the name of Christ…”, “Go forth!” What we need to hear with words is the call of Christ…now go on, go, go go - have a great time and come back because I can’t wait to hear the stories! And we go knowing that we don’t go alone. The Spirit of the Creator and Sustainer of all things goes with and before us. We are not alone. We are empowered. God sends us out with the things we need. Love, forgiveness, hope, restoration, and resurrection. To work, to our homes, to the areas we travel in, we are sent to be salt and light. And remember that we have a Lord who goes before us and will meet us on the way. Let’s GO…!!!
