“The
Glen Avon Story" With the return of September, newness is all around us. Fall is almost the "Spring" of the American church year. It's the time when we crank up our ministry at full tilt. Church school begins again. The choirs return to their regular Fall through Spring routines. Study groups suspended for the summer because of crazy schedules return to action. Added to this normal return of the active church schedule are the exciting prospects of a new Sunday evening worship service, the launching of L.I.F.E. Groups, and gatherings to assemble "The Glen Avon Story". The new worship service begins on the 9th and will begin at 6:00 PM. It is aimed at those for whom Sunday morning can often be an impossibility, those whose inner clocks simply find the evening more amenable to them, and those who are searching for ongoing new ways to worship. The music will be upbeat, the atmosphere casual (please, guys, NO TIES), and the message very interactive. The L.I.F.E. Groups are our new way to help folks live as disciples of Christ. They are about gathering with fellow members to pray, apply the week's message to our real lives, and deepen relationships among members of the body of Christ. Finally, we will meet together at the September and October 3rd Sunday. Dinners to begin to assemble "The Glen Avon Story," deciding on those unique gifts Christ has blessed us with—what we value, what we believe—which we are compelled to share with the larger Duluth community. Proverbs 3:5-8 reads:
"Trust in the
Lord with all your heart, Let's join together this Fall to experience the transforming, refreshing power of Christ's Spirit in our lives! Amen.
